Monica Mae Leibson, L.Ac.
Monica Mae Leibson is a board-certified acupuncturist. First, she earned her Master’s degree at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine (SBCOM). She is also board-certified by the NCCAOM. Monica has diverse clinical experience. For example, she has treated physical and musculoskeletal injuries. Additionally, she has worked with hospice patients and supported alcohol and drug detoxification.
Advanced Education and Specialties
Monica has extensive training in Chinese herbs, physical medicine, anatomy, and physiology. She also specializes in Chinese Medicine and Infertility. To gain this expertise, she studied under two leading experts. These experts are Dr. Randine Lewis, who wrote The Infertility Cure, and Jane Lyttleton, who wrote Treating Infertility with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Today, Monica focuses her practice on integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine with modern Reproductive Medicine.
Pregnancy, Birth, and Postpartum Support
Monica also has professional training as both a Birth Doula and a Postpartum Doula. Because of this specialized training, she can educate her clients about all of their options during birth.
She uses acupuncture and education to support a woman’s body during pregnancy. Therefore, her clients are often less likely to need medical inductions or other interventions. Monica also uses acupuncture and acupressure during labor. These techniques relieve pain and assist in a smoother delivery. During the postpartum period, Monica teaches women about breastfeeding, hormone regulation, and infant health.
Leadership and Healing Philosophy
Monica is a leader in her professional community. In the past, she served as the Treasurer and Membership Chair of the Michigan Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Currently, she uses Chinese Medicine to empower her clients. She helps them access their own physical, emotional, and spiritual power. Monica truly believes that healing is an art. She uses this art to express the creative spirit within all of us. When she is not helping her patients, Monica loves to spend her time singing, dancing, and painting.
